Anesthesia CME Risk Management Presentation (Sacramento)

The Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP) is proud to partner with the Sierra Sacramento Valley (SSVMS) and the Placer-Nevada County Medical Societies (PNCMS) in hosting an Anesthesia Risk Management CME dinner program to physicians – at no cost or obligation. This interactive and informative ninety-minute program offers practical tips to help and provide anesthesiologists additional tools in order to increase patient safety and reduce claims. Attendees will learn objectives through the presentation of case studies and statistical data.

Program Objectives:

  • Understand how risk management techniques protect patients, physicians, practices, and personnel by making safety the core value and organizing principle of practicing medicine.
  • Learn why a general discussion of risks and complications prior to surgery doesn’t meet informed consent legal standards.
  • Understand the importance of developing patient-specific informed consent discussions and documents, and how language, culture, age, competency, and literacy affect your presentation.
  • Understand how different operating theaters and procedures affect patient safety and risk exposure.
  • Understand the system(s) to prevent an injury to the patient
  • Learn what steps to take after an adverse event and why.

*The Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. is accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality/California Medical Association (IMQ/CMA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. takes responsibility for the content, quality and scientific integrity of this CME activity. CAP designates this educational live activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.
