“Resilience – A New Take on Wellness” will address the topics of why we worry about physician wellness and why we characterize our lives as unbalanced.
Most advice tells us to search for work-life balance: that work is bad and life happens when we’re not at work. This advice demotes the importance of work and loads non-work time with unrealistic expectations.
Can a successful clinician-scientist really:
• Eat six small meals a day?
• Work out four times a week?
• Attend all family functions?
• Spend regular quality time with friends?
A more achievable goal and a more enduring result is resilience...the capacity to live life to the fullest and face adversity, change and challenge with purpose and determination.
