The End of Life Option Act permits terminally ill adults with capacity to make medical decisions to be prescribed an aid-in-dying medication if certain conditions are met. This law takes effect on June 9, 2016.
In an effort to help physicians, the California Academy of Family Physicians (CAFP) announced the availability of End of Life Podcast ‘The Talk’ series which focuses on end of life care and conversations. The series delves into the meaning of palliative care, advance care planning and advance directives, patient and family communication, and California’s End of Life Option Act.
The Talk is one of many resources available in CAFP's End of Life Conversations program.
We hope you’ll share these new resources with your practice team members and colleagues to improve your communication skills and increase your capacity to serve patients at the end of life.
A special thanks to CAP Board Member Lisa Thomsen, MD, FAAFP for bringing 'The Talk' series to our attention. Dr. Thomsen appears in episodes two and three of this series.
