Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. Members Elect New Chair and New Member to Board of Directors

Los Angeles, July 30, 2013 – The Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP) today announced the election of Béla S. Kenessey, MD as president and chair of its Board of Directors, and Gregory Lizer, MD as incoming board member. Dr. Kenessey replaces former president and chair, John E. Ingram, MD, who will now serve as Chair Emeritus of the Board of Directors. The election results were ratified at CAP’s annual meeting of members and board meeting, both held on July 18, 2013 at its Los Angeles corporate headquarters. 

A board certified Danville, California family practitioner, Dr. Kenessey was elected president by the CAP Board after serving as a member of the board since 2009. In addition, Dr. Kenessey has served as chair of the Mutual Protection Trust Northern California Claims Review Committee since 2005, among other active committee roles.

Dr. Lizer, a board certified pediatrician practicing in La Cañada-Flintridge, California, was elected by the membership to fill the vacant position left by Dr. Ingram. He has most recently served as chair of CAP’s Membership Development Committee, a role he will continue in, as he adds serving on the 15-member board of directors to his organizational contributions. 

“Both Dr. Kenessey and Dr. Lizer have demonstrated a remarkable commitment to the success of the Cooperative of American Physicians in countless ways over the past several years,” noted Chief Executive Officer James L. Weidner. “Dr. Kenessey will no doubt continue to lend his solid leadership expertise, while the spirited Dr. Lizer will contribute his valuable marketing and business development prowess to the mix,” Weidner said.
